SUMMERLAND WILDFIRE UPDATE - August 16, 2026
To Our Summerland Neighbours, Friends, and Clients
Our hearts are with everyone affected by the recent wildfires in our community.
We know that many individuals and families are facing difficult days as they navigate evacuation, damage, disruption, and uncertainty. Please know that you are not alone. Summerland is a community built on kindness, resilience, and neighbours helping neighbours, and we have already witnessed so many acts of care and generosity during this challenging time.
At NeighbourLink, we are committed to supporting our community as recovery begins. While some of our services have been temporarily disrupted, we are working hard to return to regular operations as soon as possible. As we reopen and rebuild services, our focus will be on responding to the needs of those most affected. We need your help.
To our clients and community members: We want to hear from you. What do you need to help you get back to everyday life? Whether it's practical support, connections to resources, assistance with basic needs, or simply someone to listen, your voice will help us understand how we can best serve our community in the weeks and months ahead. Email: admin.nlsummerland@gmail.com
To our volunteers: Your time, compassion, and willingness to help make an incredible difference. As services resume, we will be looking for volunteers to assist with recovery efforts and community support programs.
To our donors and supporters: Financial contributions and in-kind donations will help us respond to emerging needs and ensure our programs remain available to those who need them most.
Recovery takes time, but together we can help one another move forward. We believe in the strength of our community and in the power of neighbours supporting neighbours. Please watch for updates from NeighbourLink on our facebook page regarding service resumption, volunteer opportunities, donation needs, and ways to access support.
Until then, stay safe, take care of one another, and remember that help, hope, and community are never far away.
With care,
The NeighbourLink Team
Supporting Summerlanders in need.
Through our network of volunteers, NeighbourLink is able to link the needs of individuals in our community to willing and able volunteers.
Although the needs vary, our core service is driving people to their doctor, dental, specialist, or surgery appointments.
Some of our other services are a monthly community soup lunch, a visitation program, and our Christmas Senior Care Packages Program.
Our goal is to provide help to all the people of Summerland, without strings and without charge.

“I’m alone for the holidays and am so excited that someone remembered me during the holidays and I won’t even be peeking in my gift bag until Christmas morning because it’s the only gift I’ll get.”
