We Need Soup Social Volunteers!

We are looking for volunteers to help host a monthly Soup Social!

You may have heard that NeighbourLink recently started offering their free monthly Soup Socials again.

This community event is offered for our local seniors, though anyone is welcome to join us!

We host these on the third Thursday of each month, from noon to 1 pm at the Summerland Community Centre (9710 Brown Street). We serve hearty, belly-warming soups, buns, and a dessert to all those in attendance. We have door prizes and often have local acts to entertain the crowd.

To help us continue to offer these lunches, we are looking for groups of people to:

-Donate the pots of soup,

-Set up the tables and chairs in the Community Centre before the event,

-Serve the food,

-And help to clean up the kitchen afterwards and put away the tables and chairs.

The time commitment at the Community Centre would be to start setting up at 11:30 am and be done cleaning by 1:30 pm. The soup preparation ahead of time would depend on what yummy offering you’d like to make!

You can volunteer with a church group, a group of friends, family members, or even some co-workers! Children are welcome to volunteer with you, as long as they are supervised by a parent or caregiver.

Many NeighbourLink clients have expressed how much they missed these Soup Socials when they weren’t being held over the past two years. And we are thrilled to be offering them again…but we need some support to continue to provide them.
